Let suppose the existing hierarchy is State>City>Postal Code. Now we have to add District to the hierarchy making the hierarchy State>District>City>Postal Code.
Open the required RPD in the Oracle Admin Tool for which changes are to be done.
After connecting to the data base, bring the district column from the data base to the required physical table in the physical layer. In the BMM layer, add the district column by dragging and dropping down the district column from physical table to the logical table where already State, City, Postal Code where existing. After adding the column, go to the hierarchy where State>City>Postal Code was developed already.
Now add a Child (District) to the Parent (State) by right clicking on State hierarchy and then selecting Parent Child hierarchy in the hierarchy folder of the logical layer. Remove the child as City to the State which was already existing and add only district to the State. In the Keys tab of the logical level of the district add Key name as “District” and add district column from the logical table in the “Columns” Column. Also, remove the parent as State from the City logical hierarchy and add only district.
After making the necessary changes in the logical hierarchy, double click on the district column in the logical table and then select district in the “levels” tab of the logical column.
Save the RPD file after checking the global consistency and upload the file in OBIEE 11g.Now you can see a drill link in state leading to district further leading to city by the changes made in the OBIEE 11g.
